Why Most Shilajit Brands Don’t Test

Third-party testing costs money and takes time. For brands sourcing cheap, low-altitude shilajit and selling it at high margins, testing is a liability — because the results might reveal what’s actually in the product.

The supplement industry is largely self-regulated. No law requires shilajit brands to test for heavy metals or publish results. Most don’t. Some test once and apply that result to every batch for years. Others use in-house testing with no independent verification.

How often do you test?

Every production batch is independently tested before it ships. We do not use a single COA across multiple batches. Each batch has its own unique test results.

Who does your testing?

An independent, accredited third-party laboratory. We do not use in-house testing. The lab has no financial relationship with Lajit Gold — their job is to give accurate results, not favorable ones.

What does “passes Prop 65” mean?

California Proposition 65 sets the strictest heavy metal limits of any regulatory standard in the world. Products that pass Prop 65 are considered safe for daily consumption even at the most conservative safety thresholds. Most fruits and vegetables would fail Prop 65 — our shilajit passes.

Is your facility FDA approved?

Shilajit is a dietary supplement — the FDA does not “approve” supplements. However, our manufacturing facility operates in full compliance with FDA GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) guidelines for dietary supplements, which govern quality control, sanitation, equipment, and record-keeping.

Can I request a COA for a specific batch?

Yes. If your batch number is not listed above, contact us and we’ll provide the relevant COA within 24 hours.
